Skype For Business Contacts and Groups Not Migrated to Microsoft Teams

Back in July 2018, Microsoft released new functionality to Microsoft Teams that would migrate existing contacts and contact groups that you have configured in your Skype For Business client into Teams. Specifically, the release details were:

Bring your Skype for Business contacts to Teams
When your organization moves from Skype for Business to Teams, your contacts will make the move with you. To see them, once you’re in Teams, click Chat on the left, then Contacts at the top.

During a recent migration from Skype for Business on-premises to Teams, though, I encountered a user who had multiple groups and contacts but none appeared in the Teams client. The fix was quick and painless.

Post MSIgnite 2018 – What I’m Watching

As I filtered through the 1700+ sessions leading up to Microsoft Ignite, I quickly knew that unless I was able to clone myself I would have some catching up to do.  Rather than try to sort through all of the sessions again later, I made a playlist of sessions that I’d like to go back and watch.

The playlist is a compilation of 70+ videos and 24+ hours of content, mostly in the Azure and Office 365 arena since that is where a lot of my focus is these days.  Is there a session that shouldn’t be missed?  Feel free to let me know what should be added!

What I’m hoping to see at Ignite 2018

MSIgnite Reaction: The Future of Skype and Teams

Now that Microsoft Ignite has come and gone, I have had time to digest some of the news from the week and want to share some thoughts…specifically about Skype and Teams for now.  Ignite 2017 overall was the best/most productive Microsoft conference I have attended.  The logistics of a conference this size have to be crazy – 30,000 people, 1600+ sessions, vendors, food, celebrations, etc.  Kudos to everyone involved.

Ignite 2017 Day 1 Recap

The first day of Microsoft Ignite brought a staggering amount of announcements, most of which I have yet to read about in detail.  With the number of product groups represented at the conference, I am sure there are still some that I haven’t heard about.  In all of the sessions I attended today, I saw Microsoft’s mission throughout.  It is clear that they are really focused on ensuring users have the tools they need to be productive.
